Open Screen

The main values of the Monterrey International Film Festival A.C. include serving the film industry and the community, as well as the cultural diversity and justice itself.

Our philosophy talks about reflecting the values, traditions and characteristics of cultures across the globe. Our principles declare that the films made locally are social and cultural ambassadors to the rest of the world; among our objectives, we strive to create an inclusive look to local, national and international cinema, without casting aside that part of the fundaments of a cultural event such as the Monterrey IFF are held together through the responsibility towards the community that welcomes it and sustains it.

As the Festival has matured we have been able to create strong bonds with other organizations in the city and use the power of cinema to promote meaningful social change. These efforts have had a resounding success, with benefits that extend beyond cinema towards the academic, social and familiar ambits of many. We don’t take credit for these changes, it’s the community itself that discovers new possibilities and welcomes the transformation. We offer a support platform from where they can leap towards better communities, families and people.

These last few years we have focused on hosting animation workshops for kids in orphanages. Besides, we have taken cinema towards an encounter with other audiences through projections in communities at risk, and we have helped –through production contests– other NGOs to promote their efforts. But we can do more. We are constantly searching for other opportunities to create strong links with others who believe that the world can be bettered. If you firmly believe this and think that cinema can help you achieve your goal, don’t hesitate in contacting us. Together we’ll go further.
